Grace Chan is a watercolour painter who is based in Waterford, Ireland. Her painting styles are influenced by her childhood memories in Malaysia and the use of “white space” typically featured in Chinese-style watercolour.

Her favourite subjects to paint are the rural and urban landscapes of the south-east, and the people and animals that inhabit these spaces. She loves to capture the “moment” in her work, which is evident in the movement, fluidity and spontaneity of her brushwork and in the vibrant use of colour. The medium of watercolour enables her to do this, as it allows her to work quickly, painting live scenes that portray action and atmosphere.  The resulting ‘moments’ capture snapshots of life, memories and stories.

Grace can frequently be found in her camping chair painting the most picturesque locations around with the Waterford Sketchers and South East Plein Air (SEPA) Group. She is a regular participant in plein air festivals such as the Art in the Open; European Society of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases Art Exhibitions and the Incognito Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation Art Charity.
